I woke up this morning to a WhatsApp message from a cousin getting married tomorrow in a faraway land. I’m happy for her. She is a devout young sister who finally got discovered by a Christian brother. God bless them.

As we started chatting, I realized I had some prayers bubbling in my heart for her. So I started releasing them, and at the end of the prayers, I wrote, “In Jesus’ Name!”

Then and then my flash point began. In Jesus Name! I noticed that many people nowadays end their prayers with IJNIP! I quickly tweeted on my TL – “When your prayers are not answered, don’t blame God because He doesn’t know who’s IJN at the end of your prayers. You are on your own! Continue!”

I nearly wanted to say jokingly, “The 140 character constrains you to shorten God’s name. Is okay! If He shortens your blessing, don’t complain o!” Well, I know that is not true. Again, I decided to tweet another: “I just hope IJN does not represent the nickname of one terrible demon in Hell, yet to be released. Otherwise, I will be glad he’s got many converts! Lol!”

To the first tweet, someone replied that at a prayer meeting, people even whispered “IJN” at the end of prayers. Haaa! Are you serious? What is wrong with you? Did you ever see IJN in the Bible? We can play too much sha! Or be too lazy to say. May I never be in that kind of assembly, or I pack my Bible and leave immediately.

Have you ever noticed on many Group Chats people belong to where people pray and end it with IJN or IJMN or IJNIP? And people say Amen to those prayers. Not me. Come on! Even children are fast adopting it as a closure to prayers. What’s their own, since mummy and daddy, aunties and uncles, friends and enemies are using it. Imagine what we are passing down to the children. They have started adopting IJN as the closure of prayers! Continue. Right before your eyes, sooner or later, they will soon forget what that name means or does!

If your pastor finished praying and ended it with a loud IJNIP, would you say Amen to that? Answer now! Will you?

Brethren, you know what! The Word of God says in Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Philippians 2: 9-11 says, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

God didn’t say, “IJN every knee should bow.” Well, if demons don’t run from you, you should know that Jesus they know, but IJN they don’t. Acts 19:15.

Stop trivializing the name above all names, all in “IJN.” He is not your homie! No! He is not your buddy! He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Or show me one place in the Bible where Jesus “funkified” His name. If you like, you can gratify yourself by thinking those words make you trendy or current with modern slang. Continue! Actually, desist from such!

Don’t let the slang rub you off the power in the name of your Messiah. He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. He is God, our Deliverer. No other name can be saved except the name of Jesus! Give Him His Honor. The honor is due to His name.

There was a time when the name brought great miracles to people. Let me tell you a short story of the power in His Name. It was my birthday, and I decided to go and celebrate at an orphanage to bless the kids. I set off, but it was on a school day. I got there and found out the children had all gone to school. As I was about to leave in despair after handing over the gifts to them, I asked, “Is there no one at all that we can pray with?” She responded reluctantly, “There is, but…they are mentally sick adults…” There was silence from me to her. Mentally sick? I was not bargaining for that. But a strange boldness rose from within me, and I responded to her, “Sure, bring them!” I had responded when my reasoning faculty kicked in, telling me, “Mentally deranged people? Are you sure? What if they bounced on you and wound you? How can?” I replied, “Well, I can’t sense any anointing on me now. I will use the name of Jesus. After all, He said, ‘This signs shall follow them that believe in Me, In My Name, they shall lay hands on the sick and recover. In My Name, they shall cast out demons.’ So, I will pray in His Name, Jesus.”

By the time I recollected myself, the folks had filed in individually. They began to manifest their nature. I asked the lady to take them into a spacious hall where I could pray for them individually. I got into it. One by one, I summoned courage and began praying for them. It was an arduous task to get them to stop hallucinating or talking. But as I started praying in the name of Jesus, the Lord stirred up His anointing. My palm began to burn with fire. I knew the Lord had supplied the anointing. I moved in to use the name of Jesus to cast out and command healing upon them individually. Oh, the name of Jesus is powerful! Their manifestation notwithstanding, I marched on in the powerful name of the Lord Jesus, praying and casting out. After almost two hours of reaching all of them. I left the place, fulfilled that I had done the work of the Lord.

A few months later, I returned with another celebrant to meet a surprise. Three of them had been completely healed and restored to sanity. A couple of months later, so few others had been healed, restored, and returned to their families. The Lord be glorified. There is power in His Name. It is by His Name that the miracles had occurred so that He might be glorified. Glory be to His Name!

There is power in His Name. There is no other name by which a man can be saved except through that name, Jesus. And whosoever shall call on that name shall be saved. I tell you, if you do not yet know Him, I can show you to Him. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When you accept Him as your Lord and Savior, He shows you the Way to the Father God. He gives you a new life, the life of God that never perishes in eternity. He makes you know the truth about God, and you triumph over evil.

If you want Him today, I can help you. It is simple: make Him your Lord and Savior from today. Confess Him, and all shall be settled. Say this to yourself and mean it right now:

Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart all You did for me. I believe You came in the flesh, lived, and died for my sins. You took my sins with You. You rose and forever living at the right Hand of the Father in heaven. Thank You for doing all this for me. Thank You for forgiving me of all my sins. You are now my Lord and my Savior. Thank you, Father. I am born again. And from this day, my life is now lived according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, I prayed. Amen.

That is it! Find a Bible-believing church and tell someone what happened to you. Establish yourself there and grow in God’s knowledge and wisdom. Congratulations!

  1. This is so true, I have been pondering about it, am glad there’s a post on it, I pray that people just stop joking with God, we are too lazy to pray these days that we think God would answer whatever we say. God help us!
