The problems we face as an organisation or a nation is not only with leaders but with those who surround them. A leader’s reign is made or marred depending on who his/her assistants, advisers are. Rehoboam, a king of Israel, at the beginning of his reign was approached by the people to tell them what his reign would look like. Rehoboam consulted the elders that sat before his father Solomon as mentees/assistants/advisers and they counselled him, having learnt wisdom for many years before his father. But Rehoboam, wanting to consult widely (as we often say), reached out to his friends – the young men whom he grew up with – for their counsel. Click the heading to continue reading
